This is the third consecutive win achieved by the men in blue in the much-hyped tournament being organised at Dr Ambedkar Stadium, Panambur under the aegis of Karnataka Regional Cricket Academy.

It was all-rounder Adiyta Somanna's freakishly eye popping stuff that sealed the fate for the men in yellow and he exhibited his talent in both batting and bowling.

Ritesh Bhatkal-led team ran through the Tigers and outplayed them in all departments of the game.

Opting for batting, coastaldigest.com XI were initially in the trouble thanks to the failure of the openers - Mohammed Taha (10 off 7 balls) and Rishab GM (7 off 8 balls). However, Aditya Somanna (52 off 46 balls) managed to build the innings and helped the team reach 156/7.

While chasing the target, Udupi Tigers had almost taken grip on the match due to the swashbuckling batting performance by Mohammed Asif (46 off 34 balls) and Naveen MG (37 off 25 balls).

However, after 13th over the match once again inclined towards coastaldigest.com XI as captain Ritesh Bhatkal (2/14) and Aditya Somanna demolished the Udupi Tigers batting line up. The Tigers finally reached 146/6 in 20 overs giving coastaldigest.com XI a 15 run win.

Mangaluru: In a decisive move to tackle the city’s deteriorating sanitation infrastructure, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has announced a massive ₹1,200 crore action plan to overhaul its underground drainage (UGD) network.

The initiative, spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner and MCC Administrator Darshan HV, aims to bridge "missing links" in the current system that have left residents grappling with overflowing sewage and environmental hazards.

The Breaking Point

The announcement follows a high-intensity phone-in session on Thursday, where the DC was flooded with grievances from frustrated citizens. Residents, including Savithri from Yekkur, described a harrowing reality: raw sewage from apartments leaking into stormwater drains, creating a "permanent stink" and turning residential zones into mosquito breeding grounds.

"We are facing immense difficulties due to the stench and the health risks. Local officials have remained silent until now," one resident reported during the session.

The Strategy: A Six-Year Vision

DC Darshan HV confirmed that the proposed plan is not a temporary patch but a comprehensive six-year roadmap designed to accommodate Mangaluru’s projected population growth. Key highlights of the plan include:

•    Infrastructure Expansion: Laying additional pipelines to connect older neighborhoods to the main grid.

•    STP Crackdown: Stricter enforcement of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) regulations. While new apartments are required to have functional STPs, many older buildings lack them entirely, and several newer units are reportedly non-functional.

•    Budgetary Push: The plan has already been discussed with the district in-charge minister and the Secretary of the Urban Development Department. It is slated for formal presentation in the upcoming state budget.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
