Bengaluru, May 20: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah described resignation of B S Yeddyurappa as the chief minister as the victory of democracy and lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah by terming them “Hitler” and “Goebbels” respectively.

Modi and Shah always indulged in devious means to come to power. They mislead people by carrying out propaganda and making emotional speeches. The two leader never spoke about the development of the state during the election campaign, he charged and added that the BJP has no respect for democracy.

“I have been politics for four decades. I have never come across leaders like Modi and Shah. They have scant respect for democracy and always try to grab power by back-door entry,” he charged.

Siddaramaiah was speaking to the media after Yeddyurappa announced his decision to resign as the chief minister at Vidhana Soudha.

He also accused Governor Vajubhai Vala of being hand in glove with the BJP.

“The governor had given 15 days time to Yeddyurappa to prove majority though he had sought only one week’s time. The Supreme Court objected to it and asked the BJP to prove the majority immediately,” he stated.

The governor should have called the JD(S)-Congress combine to form the government.

The two parties together had a majority. Instead, the governor invited the BJP, which had just 104 MLAs. Siddaramaiah charged Yeddyurappa with misleading people through his speech in the Assembly on Saturday. “What he said in the Assembly was all lies. What did he do when he was the chief minister? Why didn’t he waived crop loan then?... In fact, he opposed the move to waive co-operative crop loan when he was the part of the coalition government,” he said.
