Mysuru, Feb 2: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today advocated for simple mass marriages.
Speaking after inaugurating a mass marriage programme at Suttur village on the eve of the Suttur fair, he said that “our family shares a special bonding with Suttur Mutt. The mutt is doing yeoman service for the Society even a government would find it difficult to do. The mutt has organised agriculture fair for the farmers. Rural culture has been given more prominence in the fair.
He said that Suttur Mutt is providing a world-class education to the poor students."I am happy to be here on this occasion. Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murthy, who showed the world how a woman should be, is also present here. She is involved in a lot of social works. May her blessings be with the young couples,” he added.
Dr Sudha Murty distributed mangalsutras to the couples. MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy administered an oath to the couples. Kumaraswamy and Anitha distributed certificates to the couples. Sudha Murthy distributed special gifts to the couples on the occasion.
More than 180 couple, including 16 ST, 119 SC, 23 backward communities, 18 Veerashaiva, 4 physically challenged, 8 inter-caste couples got married.
