Bengaluru, Aug 1: The III ACMM court on Tuesday remanded L Suresh, Kunigal-based civil contractor, to eight days in the custody of the Special Investigation probing the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh.

On July 26, SIT had arrested Suresh, 36, for allegedly providing a motorbike to Gauri’s killers and later destroying evidence like jerkin, helmet and shoes of assailants by burning them in an agricultural field in Kunigal on September 6, 2017.
The same day, SIT had sought his custody. Judge Jagadish sent him to judicial custody after the accused alleged that SIT sleuths had beaten him after arresting him.
Suresh, accused number 11 in the case, is a teacher-turned-civil contractor and given his statement as a witness too. On June 6 this year, SIT produced him before a magistrate court where he confessed that Parashuram Waghmore, who allegedly gunned down Gauri, and Ganesh Miskin, who rode the bike with the gunner as pillion, had lived in his house for a few days, including the day of the murder. The duo had vacated the room that night, Suresh said in his statement.
