Six persons taken into custody in Naushad murder case

Bantwal, Jun 23: Six persons have been taken into custody by the Bantwal rural police on Sunday in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Naushad at Maripalla on Saturday.

They are all said to be locals and know to the deceased. Two teams have been formed under the guidance of Bantwal circle inspector Belliappa and DCIB inspector Basheer Ahmed to crack the murder mystery.

Naushad, an accused in Nooruddin murder case that took place January 5, 2012 was later acquitted by the court.

Initially it was suspected that Naushad was murdered with a motive of revenge for Nooruddin 's murder. But police are also investigating in the direction of personal rivalry.

Based on the statement given by Naushad 's cousin Shameer, who witnessed the murder, police said six persons were directly involved in the crime. Shameer has identified two of the assailants as Irfan and Toushib.

He said he kept pleading with them when they attacked Naushad and they chopped off his hand before killing him on the spot.

Shameer is being treated at a private hospital in Mangalore.

Police have registered a case based on his complaint.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Mangaluru City Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the inaugural ceremony of Karavali Utsava, which will be held at the Karavali Utsava Ground on Saturday.

The festival will be inaugurated at 6:00 pm by Dakshina Kannada District Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. Cultural and public programmes will be held at the venue every evening and will continue until January 2.

According to City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on both sides of the road from Lalbagh to Karavali Utsava Ground. Visitors are requested to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

To help the public, traffic signboards and parking guidance flex boards have been installed along the routes leading to the venue. The police have urged commuters and visitors to follow these instructions to ensure smooth traffic movement.

The police have appealed to the public to cooperate by following traffic rules and parking guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
