Mangaluru, Aug 16: At least six wild elephants were spotted near Sullia town on the outskirts of the city on Saturday.

Forest Department officials were seen driving them away back in to forests till late in the evening.
Ganapathi K, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), Sullia, said that there were a male, two adult females, two sub-adults and one calf, in the group.
They were at about 5 km from the town at a place called Bhasmadkka.
The elephants were spotted in the morning and the Forest Department came to know about it at about 7.30 a.m.
They had crossed the Payaswini and approached towards Kurujikadu. Efforts were on to drive them back using crackers. They did not damage crops much, he said.
