Mangaluru, Dec 25: Coastaldigest.com XI opener Mohammed Taha, who had failed to score big in last couple of matches, signalled a return to form by cracking a superfast half century against United Ullal on Saturday under floodlights at Dr Ambedkar Stadium, Panambur, here.
The T20 specialist's 36-ball 66 led coastaldigest.com XI to their fourth successive victory in the Mangalore Premiere League 2016, beating Nithin Mulky led team by 4 runs.
After the fall of Taha's wicket, responsible batting by Rohit Gowda (26 off 21 balls) and Swaroop S (28 off 17 balls) carried coastaldigest.com to a solid total of 170 for 9.
While chasing, United Ullal lost their opener Sadiq Kirmani when the team's score was zero thanks to the fast bowler Arif Mukka. Opening partner Vrijesh (7 off 10 balls) too fell prey to the same Mukka Express in third over.
However, swashbuckling batting performances by top and middle order batsmen led the match to a nail biting finish.
In last 2 overs United Ullal required 37 runs to register a victory, which seemed almost impossible. However, stormy batting by Rakshith R (57 off 30 balls including 5 sixes and 3 fours) changed the scenario on the ground.
At this time, the Mukka Express came to the rescue of his team and claimed the wicket of Rakshith. The next two run-outs proved costly for United Ullal and lost the match to coastaldigest.com XI by four runs.
