Bengaluru Dec 16: Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde, who had called Karnataka Home Minister R Ramalinga Reddy on a Facebook post recent, has received a strongly worded reply from the latter.

In his Facebook post, Reddy stated that Hegde is "unfit to even become an MP leave alone a minister." Further, Reddy states that those who disrupt peace in society are terrorists and that Hegde should learn to live and behave like a human being.

He stated: "poison-minded" people like Hegde make a living on the hardship of people and even by politicising death. Reddy says Hegde is following the direction of (BJP chief) Amit Shah. "It is the responsibility of the government to protect the people and will continue to do so."

Hegde in his Facebook post accused Reddy and Advisor to Home Minister Kempaiah of misleading Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with regard to handling the recent situation in Sirsi.

The town was marred by violent protests by saffron activists after a youth belonging to Hindu community was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Honnavar. Hegde points out to a Sirsi court order providing relief to all 62 people arrested during the protest.

"I request our chief minister to have a peep into the mirror, now! His own court jester-colleagues are sure to drop him in mid-course and escape from the scene (sic). What can his own consultant or the useless Home Minister can do when the plans of supporting the terrorists and repressing the real patriots are in action! (sic).”

Hegde then goes on to state that following the court's decision, the BJP has decided to intensify its protest "against the communal, caste-carved dumb government" besides targeting terrorists.

Mangaluru police have arrested a 27-year-old NRI on his return from Saudi Arabia in connection with an Instagram post allegedly containing derogatory and provocative remarks about the Hindu religion, officials said on Monday.

The accused, Abdul Khader Nehad, a resident of Ulaibettu in Mangaluru, was working in Saudi Arabia when the post was uploaded, police said.

A suo motu case was registered at the Bajpe police station on October 11 after an allegedly offensive post circulated from the Instagram account ‘team_sdpi_2025’. Police said the content was flagged for being provocative and derogatory in nature.

During the investigation, technical analysis traced the Instagram post to Nehad, who was residing abroad at the time, a senior police officer said. Based on these findings, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against him.

On December 14, Nehad arrived from Saudi Arabia at Calicut International Airport in Kerala, where he was taken into custody on arrival. Police said further investigation is underway.
