Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 27: President Ram Nath Kovind today arrived in Udupi via Mangaluru amidst tight security. The president landed at Mangaluru International Airport and then headed to Udupi through a defence helicopter.
He was welcomed by Governor Vajubhai Vala and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister U T Khader at the airport. Udupi district in-charge minister Jayamala welcomed him at Udupi helipad.
The president then visited Pejawar Mutt and sought blessings of the seers. He was greeted by diwan of Mutt Raghuram Acharya at the presence of Nagaland Governor P B Acharya, MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary, MLA Raghupati Bhat, DC Priyanka Mary Francis and ZP president Dinakara Babu.
The district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi and police department led by ADGP Kamal Panth, and IGP Arun Chakravarthy, are supervising the security arrangements. The premises are cleaned to make sure that even a small bit of trash is not left.
