Two aides of underworld don Ravi Poojary arrested in Bejai shootout case

Mangalore, Mar 24: Two accomplices of underworld don Ravi Poojary were arrested by Mangalore city police on Monday in connection with shoot-out at Bharathi Builders and Developers on Bejai New Road here on March 10.

Ganesh, 26, and Mukesh, 26, both from Satara, Maharashtra are the arrested. The police have recovered a two-wheeler, pistol and three live rounds used for the crime.

An informer identified as Anand Kumar alias Anto, 35, Begur Road, Bangalore has been taken into custody by the Bangalore police. He was involved in collecting information about builders and planning the crime. Anand, an associate of Poojary and Kaliyogish, is wanted in the Shabnam Developers murder case.

It may be recalled that one of the two motorcycle borne miscreants, had entered the builders office on Bejai Road around 11am on March 10 and attempted to shoot John, the site supervisor. Luckily, for the site supervisor, the weapon misfired, and the duo escaped on the vehicle.

The miscreant who entered the office sought to deliver a letter personally to Loknath Shetty, the proprietor, who was out at site. The women staff presents there contacted Loknath and informed him that a person speaking in Hindi was insisting on delivering letter 'given by their boss' in person. Loknath, who expressed his inability to come over, sent John to the office. When John arrived, the miscreant whipped out his firearm and attempted to shoot him.

After this incident City police chief R Hithendra had formed teams and one was sent to Maharashtra. The two accused were arrested in cooperation with the Satara police.

Melkar, Dec 17: The 17th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony of Melkar Women’s PU and Degree College, themed “Fusion-2K25,” was celebrated with dignity and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. Ms. Mashmooma Fathima served as the Master of Ceremonies. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Fathima Nida, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ayisha Suhana.
