Bengaluru, Dec 16: Amidst the growing popularity of the app-based taxi services in prominent cities of Karnataka, Heytaxi, a new taxi service is all set to roll out motorcycle taxis in the state capital in January.

Heytaxi has 27 registered riders in Bengaluru and is planning to induct more in the coming weeks. From January, the service will be available at a base fare of Rs 20 for first 2 kms and Rs 7 per Km after that. It is also running a promotional campaign this month offering two free rides to customers up to 5 Kilometers.

The app based service is already functioning in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Besides requesting a ride, customers can also request riders to pick up and drop parcels. The taxi service in Bengaluru, however, will be initially available only to men due to safety reasons.

Heytaxi sees good potential for growth in Bengaluru as its charges are cheaper than auto fare. It also hopes to compete with the other app based taxi services in the city.
