Mangaluru, Feb 24: In a tragic incident, two youths from Bantwal taluk lost their lives and four others sustained severe injuries when the car in which they were travelling met with an accident near Madikeri on Wednesday.

The victims have been identified as Mohammed Shafiq (20), son of Sadiq Farangipet, who is currently residing at Thumbe and Sameer (21) son of Ibrahim, a resident of Kumpanamajalu near Farangipet.
The injured have been identified as Tafseer (18), Irfan (19), VH Ashwan (18) and Sameer (19), all residents of Farangipet.
Three of the injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru after initial treatment in Madikeri. Their condition is said to be critical. Tafseer, who is out of danger, is undergoing treatment in Madikeri.
The mishap occurred when a group of six friends on their way to Kushalnagar. They had left Mangalur in i20 car at around 9 a.m. on Wednesday for a pleasure trip.
It is learnt that a speeding tipper lorry rammed into a car at Talatmane in Madikeri. The intensity of collision was such that the car has been reduced into a bundle of metals.
While Shafeeq died on the spot, Sameer breathed his last in a hospital in Mangaluru, sources said.
A case has been registered at jurisdictional Madikeri police station.
