Mangaluru, Oct 2: A 23-year-old man was killed on Saturday when he was allegedly walking on a railway track with his earphones plugged in at Kundabarangady village of Kundapur taluk in Udupi district.

As he had free time, he went to a nearby railway track for a walk around 6.45pm. He was listening to music wearing headphone and did not hear the sound of the train which was chugging from Mangaluru to Madgoan. The train hit him from behind killing him on the spot.
It is learnt that Jagath was in the habit of walking on the railway track whenever he visited his grandmother's place. Elder members of the family had reportedly warned him against walking on the track but in vain.
Jagath had completed his engineering recently and had got a job a month ago. He was supposed to return to Bengaluru on Sunday. Gangolli police have registered a case.
