Udupi, Feb 8: The police have arrested two persons in connection with the January 26 double murder at Mannur in Kota of Udupi district.

Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi on Thursday confirmed the arrest of two persons and gave their names as Rajashekhar Reddy from Kota and Ravi, alias Medical Ravi, from Tallur.

The two were arrested in Madikeri. Police sources said that they have intensified manhunt to nab the more accused involved in the case.

It is learnt that both of the arrested miscreants have links with various Hindutva outfits. However, the police have not confirmed whether they are members of any organisation or political party.

Two youngsters - Yatish Kanchan and Bharat Poojary - were brutally murdered on January 26 following a brawl over trivial reason.

A case was filed in connection to this at Kota police station in which Rajashekhar Reddy, Chandrashekhar Reddy, and a few others were named as accused.

A voluntary Kota bandh had been organised on February 3 under the aegis of different organizations to exert pressure on the police to nab the culprits.
