Speaking to media persons after exercising his franchise on Thursday morning, Mr Kateel also said that he would increase his winning margin against Congress candidate B Janardhana Poojary this time. In 2009 Lok Sabha polls Mr Kateel had defeated Mr Poojary by a margin of 40,420 votes. He polled 4,99,385 votes as against 4,58,965 votes secured by Mr. Poojary.
Brushing aside the reports of call-gate, Mr Kateel said that allegations are not new for him. He said that his political opponents are trying to tarnish his image in cheap ways for many days.
Mr Kateel recently landed in a controversy after an independent candidate revealed the documents of Mr Kateel's thousands of telephone calls to a young woman from Adyar near Mangalore.
