Mangalore, Apr 30: Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader has criticized Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar for justifying the killing of a cattle trader and promoting communal hatred in a public protest meet in Udupi recently.

Addressing media persons here, Mr Khader said that any unjust killing cannot be justified. “It is sad that despite being an elected representative Sunil Kumar is justifying killing and glorifying grave crimes” he lamented.

Mr Kumar had stated that ANF constable's act of gunning down a cattle trader Kabeer was justifiable and that such acts would curb illegal cattle trafficking. He also went on to claim that thousands of Naveen Naik's should be born to kill score of Kabeers.

Toll-gate controversy

Strongly condemning the recent Brahmarakootlu toll-gate controversy, Mr Khader said that no individual had the right to take the law into his own hands and vandalise the toll plaza. “Several problems in the construction of the highway and the toll-gate do exist, and the cooperation of all parties is required to set them right,” he said, adding that the opposition party should cooperate and help in alleviating the problems, instead of sparking it into something bigger.
