Bengaluru, Mar 14: The All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha, the representative organisation of the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community in Karnataka will not direct the community members to support any one political party in the coming general elections.
Addressing newsmen here on Thursday, former minister and senior Congress leader, Shamanur Shivashankarappa, who was re-elected as the National President of the Mahasabha, informed that "It is the policy of the Mahasabha not to show any inclination to any one political party".
“The main agenda of the Mahasabha was to empower the Community members irrespective of their political affiliations," he said.
Informing that the members of the Veerashaiva Mahasabha have their affiliations to different political parties, he however said "The Mahasabha will distance itself from any political activities".
