Bengaluru, Oct 25: Adichunchanagiri mutt’s supremo Sri Nirmalananda Swami on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi.

The meeting coming days before the bypolls here and months before the general elections in 2019 has evoked much curiosity in political circles and led to many interpretations.
A few months ago, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Mr. Shah had called on Nirmalananda Swami and sought the mutt’s blessings for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
AICC president Rahul Gandhi had also met the seer before the 0Assembly polls. Vokkaligas in the Old Mysore region are regarded as the vote bank of the JD(S).
The mutt office in Bengaluru did not divulge any details about the meeting and the discussions held. The mutt has a sizeable following in the Vokkaliga community.
