WhatsApp will delete your personal data from Google Drive if you don’t do this

Aug 21: If you are someone who hasn't backed up multimedia files along with WhatsApp chats on Google Drive for over an year then take note. Facebook-owned messaging giant WhatsApp has announced that it will automatically delete personal data of users if the same hasn't been backed up on GoogleDrive.

So, if you are WhatsApp on one particular smartphone for some time and if you haven't backed up data for over an year, then all data that hasn't been downloaded on your mobile could get automatically deleted. Also, those you have already signed in with Google Drive account on WhatsApp to backup files and haven't updated the backup for over year an year then WhatsApp will automatically delete the last Google Drive backup file. The deadline to manually backup on Google Drive is November 12.

"WhatsApp backups that haven’t been updated in more than one year will be automatically removed from Google Drive storage. To avoid the loss of any backups, we recommend you manually back up your WhatsApp data before November 1, 2018,” said WhatsApp in its blog post.

With WhatsApp becoming the primary multimedia chat platform for everyone, the app tends to claim its fair share of storage. Also, most people backup multimedia files like picture, video sent over WhatsApp on their Google Drive for future references. However, with the limit 15GB of free Google Drive storage space, WhatsApp backups of multimedia files tend to occupy a considerable amount of storage over the period of time.

In order to make life easier for WhatsApp users, the Facebook-owned chat platform has partnered with Google to offer to free storage for WhatsApp backup files on Google Drive. This partnership will come to effect from November 12. To get the free Google Drive WhatsApp storage it is recommended that you manually backup your WhatsApp data before November 12.

Melkar (Bantwal): The 9th Annual Day celebration of SMR Public School, titled “EXCELLENTIA”, was held on December 15 with great enthusiasm and dignity, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s journey towards academic excellence and holistic development.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. U. T. Iftikar Ali. The chief guests were Dr. Akhtar Hussain, Mr. P. Moosabba Beary, Mr. Zakaria Jokattre, and Dr. T. M. Abdul Rahuf—whose inspiring addresses motivated the students and appreciated the school’s contributions to education.

Mr. Abdul Nasir, Mr. Ibrahim Gadiyar, Mr. Razak Golthamajal, Mr. Sali Koya, Mr. Arshad Hussain, Mr. Ismail Balanoor, Mr. Feroz Bawa, Mr. Sahul Hameed, Mr. Abubakkar, Mr. Hameed K. Mani, Mr. Abdul Majeed (Principal, Melkar Women’s College), and Mr. Abdul Lathief (Former Principal, Melkar Women’s College) were the guests of honour.

The Annual Report was presented by the Headmistress, Ms. Fathimathul Zaheera, highlighting the school’s achievements and progress during the academic year. The Presidential Address was delivered by the Chairman of SMR Public School, Dr. Haji S. M. Rasheed, who emphasised the vital role of education in shaping students’ futures and stressed the importance of discipline, dedication, and consistent effort in achieving 100 per cent academic results.

Secretary of SMR Public School, Mr. Rifath Ahmed, and PTA President, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, were also present on the occasion.

The Annual Day celebration showcased the collective efforts of students and teachers and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to quality education and all-round development. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, parents, and well-wishers for their support. The 9th Annual Day—EXCELLENTIA—was a memorable and successful event, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
