Bengaluru, Nov 6: The Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) on Saturday said that it would ensure that Tipu Jayanti celebrations are not observed by the government on November 10.

Stating that the VHP would be staging statewide agitations, Jain said that the organisation could not guarantee peaceful protests. He said that it was the government's responsibility to ensure peace. “If untoward incidents occur during our protests, then the onus is on the government. We cannot be held responsible for it. It is the government, which is disturbing peace by holding this event,” he said.
Despite historical accounts, public opposition and last year's violence, the government has been adamant on hosting the Jayanti. The government's only agenda is to appease the Muslim community, he added.
Attacking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Jain said that the Congress government would go to any extent to indulge in vote bank politics, even if it threatened to disrupt peace and harmony. “How many more people should die for Siddaramaiah to establish Tipu Sultan as the role model of Karnataka?” he said.
