The debate, being held as part of the programmes to mark International Women's Day, will be held at Nalanda Auditorium in Kozhikode at 10 a.m.
It will call upon Muslim women to come forward to fight for revision in Muslim personal law. Justice Kemal Pasha of the Kerala High Court will inaugurate the programme at 2 p.m.
Chairperson of the forum V.P. Zuhra told reporters that the Muslim Personal Law, which was framed in 1937, was anti-woman and did not have much connection to the Quran or Shariath.
The amendment in 1939 did nothing more than make provision for divorce. But there is no provision to prevent men from single-handedly offering triple Talaq or return of Mahar.
Ms. Zuhra said Muslim women were often victimised by religious fundamentalism when responding to social evils.
