
Mr Gowda, who had given final approval to the controversial project during his tenure as chief minister of Karnataka, told media persons in Bengaluru on Saturday that the project will not cause any ecological harm in the coastal district.
He went on to claim that the conflict the between the Congress leaders, Janardhana Poojari and Veerappa Moily, was responsible for the confusion.
The State government should work towards removing the apprehension among the people of coastal and Malnad region, he said.
Water that falls on the hills is collected only during rainy season for drinking water purpose and hence no river will be dried and ecology of the region will remain unharmed, he added.
