Bangaluru, Jul 31: Calling them as his ‘family members’ Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has asked the officials to strive for implementing government programmes and bringing good name to him instead of bothering about the survival of the coalition government.
“Don’t think that my government is on a sticky wicket. It will complete five years successfully. You are like a family to me and bringing good or bad name to government lies in your hand. So work for the good of the people. I don’t believe in taking officers for a ride,” Kumaraswamy told officials at the two-day meeting of deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of zilla panchayats which began here on Monday.
Minor problems are common in a coalition government but media is overplaying it to create a confusion. Don’t get carried away by this and waste time, he told officials. “If you have any problem feel free to approach me. I am here to solve your problems. My government will always stand by honest and committed officials,” he said.
Stating that there is no dearth of funds in government for development works, Kumaraswamy said that he was aware of problem of shortage of staff and he would address it soon while rejecting media reports about slack in revenue collection. “I really wonder who give smedia such information. Financial health of my government is very strong,” he said.
He asked DCs and CEOs to tour extensively in their respective district to listen and address grievances of people. “You must not sit in your offices. Visit government run residential schools and hostels, primary health centres and check,” he said.
Kumaraswamy said that the government will soon issue an order enlisting guidelines on the Rs 44,000 crore loan waiver scheme soon and asked DCs and CEOs to implement it in a transparent manner.
“The role of officers is crucial in implementing the loan waiver scheme by way of identifying beneficiaries, avoiding duplication and eliminating fake claims. You must be aware of middlemen misusing the benefits of the scheme,” he told official.
