Mangaluru, Sept 2: U T Khader, minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, has urged the BJP leaders not to hold 'Mangaluru Chalo' bike rally considering the sensitive situation prevailing in Dakshina Kannada district.

The BJP Yuva Morcha has planned Mangaluru Chalo, a protest rally by workers on bikes, seeking ban on SDPI, KFD and resignation of district minister B Ramanath Rai. BJP workers from various districts are expected to ride on bikes to take part in the rally to be held in Mangaluru on September 7.

Khader said since BJP workers are expected to arrive in Mangaluru on bikes from various districts, instances of stone pelting and other untoward incidents may occur. The BJP Yuva Morcha should refrain from holding a bike rally given this possibility. "All political parties have the right to hold rallies in a democratic nation. Hence, it is their right to hold a rally and we are not questioning it.

However, considering the sensitive situation prevailing in this region, they should cancel the bike rally. Let them hold a protest rally with their demands," Khader urged.
