Mangaluru, Mar 23: Hailing from a very poor background, an elderly Fatheema from Sampaje has appealed for financial aid from generous donors, for the treatment of her grandson Abdul Khader, who is suffering from several years from a mental disorder with moderate mental retardation.

In her appeal, Fatheema said that both parents of Abdul Khader (32) had passed away during his childhood and being an orphan, she had looked after him and brought him up with great difficulty without an income. By begging in the streets, he brought him up single-handedly without any help.

Abdul Khader suffers from a mental disorder and having lived without any form of medical care from several years, now requires continuous care and medical treatment. Recently, after an examination by the resident psychiatrist at Father Mullers Medical College Hospital in Mangaluru, the medical expert prescribed further treatment for Abdul.

With income and a roof over their heads, Fatheema and Abdul can just barely manage one meal per day which is insufficient for Abdul’s well-being and mental health.

Fatheema appeals for donations and financial aid from donors for the medical care and treatment of Abdul as the family is in dire need of funds for his treatment.

Interested donors can send monetary help to Fatheema through her bank account. The following are the bank details:

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
