Youth stabbed to death on university campus while celebrating birthday with girlfriend

Kalaburgi, Sept 24: A birthday party turned into a tragedy for a 23-year-old student as he was stabbed to death by miscreants on the main campus of Central University of Karnataka (CUK) at Kadaganchi in Aland taluk of Kalaburagi district on Saturday night.

Prasad Madaiyya, a native of Byalhalli village of Bhalki taluk in Bidar, was working in a private company in Hyderabad of Telangana after completing his post-graduation in Bidar.

Prasad Madaiyya had come to the university campus to celebrate his birthday with his girlfriend who is studying MA Economics in the university. 

It is learnt that on his girlfriend’s request Prasad Madaiyya had come the university campus on birthday directly from Hyderabad where he was working. 

When both of them were speaking on top of a building near the zoology department, two miscreants approached the duo and dragged Prasad away and stabbed him to death.

Narona Police have registered a case and investigations are on.

Mangaluru, Dec 20: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued a high-alert warning to vehicle owners regarding a surge in cyber fraud targeting those looking to pay traffic violation fines. Fraudsters are reportedly exploiting recent government discount schemes on traffic penalties to deceive citizens.

The Scam: How Fraudsters Strike

Criminals are using SMS, WhatsApp, and social media to circulate suspicious links and APK files (Android application packages). They claim these apps allow users to pay e-challans at a discount.

•    Device Hacking: Downloading these unauthorized apps gives hackers full access to the victim's smartphone.

•    Financial Theft: Once the phone is compromised, fraudsters intercept OTPs and personal data to drain bank accounts.

•    Phishing Sites: Fake websites mimicking official portals are also being used to harvest banking credentials.

Already, two residents within Mangaluru city limits have reported significant financial losses after falling victim to these fraudulent apps.
