Mangaluru, Feb 18: As the campaign for February 20 elections to Zilla and Taluk Panchayat came to an end on Wednesday, candidates and parties are barred from seeking votes through social networking cites and electronic gadgets.

These are among the restrictions for candidates as campaigning for the second phase of the elections to the panchayat raj bodies.
According to a press release, candidates or their parties cannot hold public meetings or take out rallies on Thursday and Friday. They cannot screen video clippings or give advertisements seeking votes.
They also cannot do any campaign activity using the print, television and online medium in the next two days. If anybody violates these restrictions, a case will be registered under Section 126 of the Representation of People Act and under Section 171 of the Indian Penal Code.
