According to the survivor's family, the accused abducted her and took the girl to a nearby field where she was assaulted.

The incident took place on Monday evening when the girl was alone at home after her family had left for a hospital in Badaun. According to police, her family entered into a scuffle with three persons on Monday morning following which she was sexually assaulted. "The girl's family sold cow dung cakes to three people on Monday morning and the latter gave them a banned Rs 500 note. A scuffle soon ensued after her father refused to accept the note," said inspector Rajvir Singh, Dataganj police station.

She was later allegedly abducted and raped by the class IX boy. The survivor, a class VI dropout, narrated the ordeal to her parents when they returned home at night. A police complaint was soon registered with the superintendent of police (SP), city, Anil Kumar and an FIR was lodged on Tuesday.

"The minor girl was raped following a squabble over an old Rs 500 note. An FIR has been registered under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused boy. He is absconding and efforts are on to nab him. The POCSO Act will also be added in the FIR once the girl's age is verified. We have arrested another person for assaulting the girl's family members during the scuffle," said Kumar. The girl was sent for medical examination on Wednesday.
