Mandya, Apr 12: A group of extremists claiming to be “saviors” of Hinduism staged a protest here on Tuesday, opposing a Hindu family's decision to get their daughter married to a Muslim man, calling it an act of "love jihad".

The protesters shouted slogans of 'love jihad' outside the girl's house, while alleging that religious conversion was happening in the name of love and marriage.

The duo, both MBA graduates and whose fathers were childhood friends, have been in love with each other for the last 12 years and are scheduled to get married soon in Mysuru with consent of both their families, according to members of both families.

Alleging that "love jihad" cases are on rise, one of the protesters demanded to know why the girl was being trained on Islamic practices and Quran if it was a true love marriage. The protesters left the place only after police intervened.

Rejecting the protesters' charges, the girl said, "Even if I get married to a Hindu guy, I have to practise traditions of his family. I'm in love with him and I'm getting happily married with the consent of our parents." Her father Dr Narendra Babu, a paediatrician, said his daughter's happiness was "more" important to him and religion does not matter at all.

"We have never given importance to religion or caste. We did not know about it. They were in love for last 12 years. First even I thought it would be difficult as the guy is a Muslim, but later I learnt he is the son of my childhood friend. They are good people," he said.

The boy's father Mukhtar Ahmed said there are no differences between the families on the issue of religion and the family has happily consented to the marriage.

"The girl and boy both are not uneducated, they are MBA graduates. The girl has been abroad also. There is nothing called love jihad. They both were in love and now they are getting married with our consent and blessings," he said.

Parents of both families agreed, Constitution agrees, but Sanghi goons who are anti-constitution have problems. We Muslims know that there is no such thing as love-jihad in Islam and none of the Muslims ever practice such an immorality in the name of Islam to cause trouble. Neither do sensible Hindus.

May Allah Safeguard the couple and guide them.
BTW, It is Haram for Muslim Man to marry a Polytheist. Hope the boy and his family knows this too.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department is set to take complete control of the 108 ambulance services by February 2026. The move aims to enhance efficiency and ensure uninterrupted emergency medical support across the state.

As part of the transition, the department plans to conduct recruitment tests for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who provide first aid and medical assistance during patient transit.

The government will also procure 175 new ambulances from the Road Safety Authority to replace older vehicles that have frequent breakdowns. The new fleet will be equipped with Mobile Data Terminals—tablet devices designed to help technicians and drivers locate patients and nearby hospitals more effectively.

These devices will also integrate ambulance operations with e-Sanjeevini, the national telemedicine platform, allowing hospital doctors to guide EMTs in real time and prepare facilities before a patient’s arrival.

A new command control centre, staffed with over 250 personnel, will operate using 112 NGERSS software developed by C-DAC. This system enables call dispatchers to track ambulances, patients, and hospitals, ensuring that the nearest available vehicle is promptly assigned. All government hospitals have already been geo-tagged, and private hospital data is being added for full integration.

A pilot project in Chamarajanagar district has already demonstrated successful, delay-free ambulance dispatch using the new system.

To streamline fleet management, the department also plans to engage district-level agencies to manage ambulance drivers, ensuring transparency and accountability in service operations.

Bengaluru, Nov 13: Karnataka Minister M B Patil has recommended renaming Vijayapura, Belagavi, Bidar and Shivamogga Railway stations after prominent saints.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Patil said that the renaming is in accordance with local cultural significance.

The recommendation has been sent to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, he said.

In his letter, Patil has proposed that Vijayapura Railway Station be renamed Jnana Yogi Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji Railway Station, Belagavi Station be named Sri Basava Mahaswamiji Railway Station, Bidar Station as Channabasava Pattadevaru Railway Station, and Sooragondanakoppa Station as Bhayagada Railway Station.

He explained that the state government has recommended naming these four stations after revered saints and that approval from the Union Home Ministry is required for this.

Accordingly, the Infrastructure Department has sent the official communication, the minister said.

All four railway stations fall under the jurisdiction of the Hubballi Division of South Western Railway.

The minister noted that the saints proposed have made significant contributions to these regions of Karnataka, and urged the Centre to approve the renaming and notify it in the official gazette at the earliest.

salumaradathimmakka.jpg

Mysuru/Bengaluru: Legendary environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka, lovingly hailed as Vruksha Mata (Mother of Trees), passed away on Friday morning at the age of 114. She breathed her last at Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru, where she had been undergoing treatment for age-related ailments and persistent breathing difficulties.

Thimmakka, who had become a global symbol of grassroots environmental activism, was living with her adopted son Umesh in Balluru, Belur taluk. She had been admitted to the hospital a week ago after her health deteriorated.

Earlier this year, despite her age, she was able to have Hasanamba darshana during the annual jatra mahotsava—a visit her followers fondly remembered.

Born on June 30, 1911, in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district, Thimmakka was married to Chikkaiah of Hulikal village in Ramanagar district. The couple did not have children, but she famously channelled her affection into nurturing trees—eventually becoming one of India’s most admired environmental guardians.

Her life’s work is legendary:

•    She planted and tended 385 banyan trees along a 4.5-km stretch between Hulikal and Kudur.

•    Over her lifetime, she is credited with planting nearly 8,000 trees of various species.
In 2022, recognising her extraordinary contribution, the Government of Karnataka appointed her the Environmental Ambassador of the State.

Throughout her remarkable journey, she received numerous honours, including:

•    National Citizens Award (1995)
•    Veera Chakra Prashasti (1997)
•    Indira Priyadarshini Award (1997)
•    Padma Shri (2019)
•    Nadoja Award
•    Rajyotsava Award

Simple, humble, and unwavering in her love for nature, Saalumarada Thimmakka inspired generations of environmentalists, students, women, and nature lovers across India. Her legacy—thousands of trees standing tall—will continue to breathe life for centuries.
