Mangalore, October 21: Karnataka Nursing Council registrar B N Muninarayanappa said that he has received many complaints from the students of some nursing colleges in the city, especially those having hospitals or medical colleges of their own, that they have been virtually exploited even after they finished their course.
He was speaking at the inaugural of the year-long silver jubilee celebration of Dr M V Shetty College of Nursing at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium here. The event is being organised by the College in association with M V Shetty Memorial Trust.
Issuing a stern warning to those institutions, which allegedly forced their students to work for 2-3 years through illegal bonds, Mr Muninarayanappa said that University would take appropriate actions based on genuine information.
Pointing out the complaints from the nursing students saying that, they are forced to work for the institution through bonds for 2-3 years, he said University will act appropriately against such institutions based on genuine information.
He also appreciated the high standard of education that the institution is providing for the students of this part of the country.
Dr Sriprakash K S, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences was the guest of honour. Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, Secretary of the Trust presided over the function.
Prof Chandrashekar Shetty, administration officer of the college, Kathayini, principal and Vimala, vice principal were present among others.
A National Conference was organised to mark the inaugural of the celebrations. The theme of the conference was 'Evaluation a working tool for professionalism'.
