Mangalore, August 27: Two Mangalore-bound Air India Express flights were diverted to Calicut Airport due to fog and low visibility on Sunday, official sources said.
An Air India official said that an Air India Express flight from Dubai, which was scheduled to land at Mangalore Airport at 6:00am on Sunday, was diverted due to unsafe weather.
On the same day at 5:45 pm a Kuwait-bound flight from Calicut, which was supposed to pick passengers from Mangalore again made a futile attempt to land on table top run way.
As the visibility was only 100 metres in Mangalore Airport, this flight also was diverted to Calicut. Interestingly, the stranded passengers of Dubai-Mangalore flight had boarded this flight at Calicut.
All the stranded passengers have been provided with accommodation facilities and they will be brought to Mangalore soon, said the official.
