Two Kerala children among five killed in Oman accident

Muscat, Jan 29: Four people, including two Malayali children, were killed when a bus carrying school children met with an accident at Nizwa in Oman.

The dead malayali children have been identified as Mohammed Shammas, a native of Pattannor in Kannur and Rooya Aman, a native of Kottayam. The deceased malayali children were studying in second standard at the Nizwa Indian school. Deepali Satheyi, a teacher at the Nizwa Indian school also died in the accident. The two other dead persons are bus employees, who are Oman natives.

The bus carrying the students of Nizwa Indian school was going on a tour to Bahla. Three students have been admitted to the intensive care unit of Nizwa hospital. The condition of a female teacher is reported to be serious. Around 20 students were injured in the accident. While the body of Mohammed Shammas has been kept at Bahla hospital, the body of Rooya has been kept at Nizwa hospital. The accident occurred when a bus carrying fish rammed into the school bus.
