15 more policemen test COVID-19 positive in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jul 8: 15 police personnel from Bangalore's Whitefield division tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Out of these, 12 are from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) police station, sources said.

A total of 27 police staff of the Whitefield division have tested positive so far and five have been discharged. The HAL police station closed on June 27 after one police staff tested COVID positive. All personnel of the police station were tested in the following days and 12 tests returned positive.

Bengaluru, Jan 15: The Karnataka Police has seized Bitcoins worth Rs 9 crores from a 25-year-old hacker, Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil informed on Friday.

The hacker, Srikrishna alias Shreeki, was arrested on November 18 for allegedly breaking into government websites, online gaming portals and websites.

"During the investigation, it has been found that hacker Srikrishna hacked three Bitcoin exchanges and 10 poker sites. Bitcoins worth Rs 9 crores have been seized in this matter," Patil said.

The hacker's handiwork includes four hacked websites and three malware exploited.

Srikrishna is known to hack online poker games to win money and Bitcoins online. He reportedly also confessed to hacking the e-procurement website of the Karnataka government in 2019.

As per Kamal Pant, Commissioner of Police, the accused lived in the Netherlands from 2014 to 2017.

Kasaragod, Jan 9: A man shot his wife and later committed suicide by hanging himself due to some disputes between the couple, in Kanathoor near here on Saturday.

Police sources said Vijayan ,(44), a resident of Vadakkekkara, shot his wife Baby (37) and later hanged himself from a tree in the compound of their house.

Sources said the incident had occurred at around 12.30 p.m.

Vijayan had used a locally made revolver to commit the crime.

Athur police have registered a case and investigating, the sources added.

Udupi, Jan 1: Two youth were crushed to death by a speeding car when they were writing 'Happy New Year' on the road at Mijar near Bajagoli in Karkala taluk of Udupi district last night. 

The victims have been identified as Sharan and Siddu, both aged around 25 years, hailing from Muddebihala in Vijayapura district. 

The two were welcoming the New Year by writing the wishes in huge letters on the road at around 10.45 pm on Thursday December 31 when an Eeco car hit them.

One of them died on the spot while the other breathed his last after being taken to a hospital. 

A case has been registered at Karkala police station.
