Abu Dhabi, Jul 13: The girl, who was one year and seven months old, died due to suffocation and tiredness caused by high temperatures.

An Emirati girl suffocated to death after her parents “forgot” her in their car in Al Ruwais City in the Western Region on Thursday night. The girl, who was one year and seven months old, died due to suffocation and tiredness caused by high temperatures.

Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, expressed grief at the little girl’s death.

The girl’s body was transferred to Al Ruwais Hospital, and investigations are underway to identify the circumstances which led to her death.

“The Abu Dhabi Police feel deeply sad about these kind of accidents. These accidents take place despite the fact that the police issue continuous warnings and launch numerous awareness campaigns to educate the public,” he said.

The police have frequently encouraged strengthening joint efforts in fostering child protection.

Col Al Junaibi called on the public to pay more attention to avoid such tragic incidents. He also noted that it is the duty of the parents to care for their children and protect them against danger.
