Udupi, February 12: Minister for Department of Public Works C M Udasi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the Rs 8 crore building of the Government Polytechnic College, to be built behind the Syndicate Bank Employees Training Center, at Ananth Nagar, Manipal.
Udupi District in-charge and Higher Education minister Dr. V.S. Acharya declared open the girls' hostel of the polytechnic.
Dr. Acharya said that building for 18 government polytechnics were being built at a cost of Rs 8 crores and 21 polytechnics at a cost of Rs 4 crores.
He said that government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vishweswariah Technical University to run five Government Engineering Colleges.
Construction of buildings of those Engineering colleges was already on, he added. MLAs K. Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R. Mendon, Deputy Commissioner M.T. Reju, Technical Education Director HU Talawar and others were present.
