Mangaluru, Mar 30: The district administration of Dakshina Kannada has has imposed a ban on all kinds of religious congregation in public places across the coastal district in the wake of fresh wave of covid-19.

Bantwal, Mar 30: A mild tension prevailed in parts of Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada after a gang of trouble mongers stormed into a mosque at Farangipet last night and attacked a cleric.

Mangaluru, Mar 28: Customs at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) arrested a married couple on charges of gold smuggling and seized gold worth Rs 39.5 lakh from their possession.

Kasargod, Mar 28: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an absconding accused Sudeer Muhammed Cheriya Vannarakkal, an economic offender, at Delhi who was deported from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was involved in five cases registered in CBI at Chennai.

Udupi, Mar 27: With 704 students testing positive for covid-19 so far this cluster, the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) campus has emerged the single driving factor of coronavirus cases in the coastal district of Udupi. The institute was first declared a containment zone on March 17. Udupi’s positivity rate is more than 4%, and 85% of the district’s active cases are from the MIT campus while

Mangaluru, Mar 26: Haji KS Sayeed Karnire, a noted entrepreneur, philanthropist and community leader from coastal Karnataka passed away tonight at a private hospital in the city following brief illness. He was 80.

Udupi, Mar 21: The coastal district of Udupi today reported 210 new covid-19 cases and 184 of them were from MIT, Manipal which has been declared as a containment zone by the district administration on March 17.
