Karnataka cabinet expansion after bypoll results, announces Yediyurappa

Bengaluru, Oct 31: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday announced that state cabinet expansion will take place after the bypoll results, adding that Munirathna Naidu will be made a minister after he wins the Rajarajeshwari Nagar by-election.

"Cabinet expansion will be done right after the bypoll results. I will go to Delhi to discuss it. Munirathna Naidu will be made a minister after he wins Rajarajeshwari Nagar by-poll," Yediyurappa told media persons here.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated a virtual rally for the upcoming bypolls in Rajarajeshwari nagar.

"We will win by more than 25,000 votes in Sirsa and Rajarajeshwari nagar," he said.

On Friday, when asked about the opposition's statement that there would be a drastic change in politics after the bypolls, Yediyurappa said, "Yes, there will be a change. We will win both the constituencies with a huge margin and the Congress will face humiliation."

Sira in Tumakuru district, along with Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR Nagar) segment in the city, will go for bypolls on November 3.

Mangaluru, Nov 29: Condemning the provocative graffiti, Congress leader and Mangaluru City MLA U T Khader has warned of a district-wide protest if the police failed to arrest those responsible behind the act within 15 days.

In two similar incidents reported on November 27 and 29, graffiti in support of Lashkar-e-Taiba and threatening to behead those who insult prophet appeared on the walls of an apartment complex and in court premises in the city, respectively.

Mr Khader said that those behind the graffiti are trying to disrupt peace in the city and hence the police should catch the culprits immediately.

"What is the intelligence department doing? Why are these incidents occurring repeatedly? The people who have scribbled such graffiti should be identified and be deported to other countries,” he said.

"In Dakshina Kannada district, anti-social elements exhibit courage whenever BJP comes to power. The MP and MLAs of the district are answerable for this" he said.

Stating that he would bring the issue to the notice of the chief minister and home minister, he said that the culprits should be identified within a week. “If the culprits are not arrested within 15 days, then we will launch intense protest throughout the district," he warned.

Bengaluru, Nov 25: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials arrested a gang of four persons and seized gold worth Rs 1.3 cr from them in Bengaluru Kempegowda international airport.

DRI officials said on Wednesday that they have tip off that gold smuggling , officials arrested four persons travalled from Dubai to bangaluru and it was surprise that they have smuggling the gold which was found in a TV speaker box.

Officials said that three from Tamil Nadu and one from West Bengal.

They have arrived in the airport from Dubai and three of them carrying LED tv sets and another one carrying other electronic goods. Officials suspected and search upon them the gold biscuits were found in the t v sets. It was also suspected that they have involved in gold smuggling in Tamil Nadu also and besides they have international contacts. Officials claimed after the lockdown relaxation this is the highest smuggling.

New Delhi, Nov 19: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, and former Chief Minister of Karnataka Sadananda Gowda tested COVID-19 positive.

The Union Minister shared the information through social media on Thursday and asked the people who came in his contact to be careful and follow the protocol.

"After initial symptoms of COVID-19, I got myself tested and the report came positive. I have isolated myself. I request everyone who has come in my contact to be careful and follow the protocol. Stay safe," Gowda tweeted.
