Karnataka govt asks temples to offer special puja during Ayodhya bhoomi pujan

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Muzrai Department of Karnataka on Tuesday issued a circular requesting all temples in the state to perform special puja on Wednesday following the 'bhoomi pujan' for Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The circular was issued on the directions of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Commissioner's Office, Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department Karnataka said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5.

The construction of Ram temple will begin in Ayodhya after the foundation ceremony in which various dignitaries from political and religious fields are scheduled to participate.

The apex court, on November 9 last year, had directed the Central government to hand over the site at Ayodhya for the construction of a Ram temple.

The formation of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust was announced on February 5 for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya. The Trust has been mandated by the Central government to oversee the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Kalaburgi, Sept 18: An assistant executive engineer of Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited (Gescom) was washed away in a stream while trying to cross the stream in a car between Vaijapura-Bammanalli villages of Aland taluk on Thursday evening.

He has been identified as Siddarama Danappa Avate, the assistant executive engineer of Afzalpur.

The stream is overflowing because of the incessant rains lashing for the past two days.

Rajashekhar Basavaraj Kumbar, another person who accompanied the engineer in the car, swam to safety. The search operation is going on by the police from Afzalpur-Dhudani side.

Bengaluru, Sept 19: Actor Santosh Kumar, Kannada anchor Akul Balaji and former Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) corporator Yuvraj R V appeared before the CCB officials on Saturday in connection with the Karnataka drug scandal.

While interacting with media, Santosh said that he was in touch with only Vaibhav Jain and that he is carrying some documents to prove his innocence.

Stating he was prepared to face the investigating officers, Balaji admitted that Vaibhav was just his 'hi-bye' friend.

Three police inspectors and their teams are going to interrogate the trio separately, a senior officer said.

The trio is suspected of having contacts with the drug peddler Sandeep Patil.

Earlier, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) had stated that based on certain information, it was felt necessary to inquire about these three and hence a notice was served.

Mysuru, Sept 26: Police have arrested three people for distributing of fake Doctorate Certificates to people by taking money ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs five lakh from a hotel in the city on Saturday.

Police said that after receiving information about this racket, Deputy Commissioner of Police A N Prakash Gowda, led a team and raided the hotel where in a function fake Doctorates were being distributed to more than a 100 aspirants. Shocked over the raid many of the organizers took to their heels and the police team was able to arrest three people who allegedly belonged to International Global Peace University.

The fake university, police said has spread its tentacles all over the country, adding that it keeps holding functions in different cities in the garb of distributing fake Doctorates in exchange for lakhs of rupees. The police seized fake certificates and mementos at the venue.

A case has been registered at the Vidyaranyapura police station.

The police had prior information that more than 120 people from different parts of the country were going to be bestowed with fake Doctorates at the hotel.

Many aspirants from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu who had allegedly paid Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh had to return disappointed.
