Bengaluru, Jul 31: BJP leader CP Yogeshwar has slammed Yediyurappa supporters and said the JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy is supporting BJP.

Speaking to the reporters, Yogeshwar said, "Congress president DK Shivakumar and Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former CM HD Kumaraswamy, both are Yediyurappa supporters."

"His words seem to support the BJP. All that Kumaraswamy had said, during our government's rule, are happening including the officers they mentioned are being transferred. He has come forward to support BJP from the back door," Yogeshwar.

While reacting to allegations made by CP Yogeshwar, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president DK Shivakumar has said that earlier Yogeshwar requested for State Legislative Council (MLC) member ticket and now such people are blaming me without any evidence. This shows his dishonesty to his party and the kind of person he is."

Mandya, Sept 14: Five people have been arrested in connection with the murder of three temple priests in Mandya after a brief encounter in the wee hours of Monday, police said. "We have arrested five people while four others are absconding. In all, there are nine people involved in this case," Mandya Superintendent of Police Parashurama K told media persons.

He said eight of them hailed from Mandya and Ramanagara districts while one was from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. The nine had brutally murdered three temple priests- Anand, Ganesh and Prakash- in their sleep inside the Arkeshwara Temple in Mandya town on the night of September 10. The priests were also the security guards of the temple, police sources said.

After killing them, the robbers had decamped with the currency notes in the donation box and did not take the coins. Police launched a massive manhunt for the accused and got information that some people were moving around in a suspicious manner at a bus stand in Maddur Taluk in Mandya district. When the police surrounded them and asked them to surrender, they tried to escape after attacking the policemen with sharp-edged weapons and injured an inspector, police sources said.

Police are verifying their involvement in other crimes. It is suspected that they had robbed another temple in the town.

verbalattack.JPG

Bengaluru, Sept 21: Two BJP leaders - Municipalities Minister K C Narayana Gowda and Kadur MLA Belli Prakash almost came to blows at the Vidhana Soudha as the two had a verbal duel.

The development took place at the makeshift lounge on the first floor of the Vidhana Soudha, just before the start of the Assembly Session.

Those who witnessed the spat said Gowda and Prakash “almost came to blows” before legislators Satish Jarkiholi, K Annadani and others intervened to separate them.

According to sources, Prakash complained that Gowda was inaccessible. “Prakash got the chief minister to sign on a file pertaining to the Kadur constituency that was referred to Gowda for further action. But, Prakash complained that Gowda was dilly-dallying and gave excuses to say he was busy. This led to an argument between them,” a source said.

The incident also underlines the disgruntlement among ruling BJP MLAs over the style of functioning of some ministers. Gowda was with the JD(S) before he jumped ship to the BJP and became a minister.
