BJP top brass to resolve State leadership crisis by month end'

Mangalore, April 6: Special representative of the government of Karnataka in New Delhi V Dhananjay Kumar has said that the senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party would find out an amicable solution to the issue of the CM by the end of this month.

Responding to the queries of media persons on the side-lines of a programme here on Thursday, the former Mangalore MP said national level leaders like Sunil Joshi and others have already begun collecting information from legislators. “The crisis must be resolved before the party heads for Assembly elections”, he said.

"All of us know that things are not well in the BJP. Interests of people and the party are important to the party high command. We are capable of rectifying any sort of issues in the party here. Leaders in the state need to unite. It will be costly for the party, if we do not unite and work," he said.

Expressing satisfaction over the present arrangement with DV Sadananda Gowda at the helm of affairs, Mr Kumar hinted that the BJP must rope in Yeddyurappa who was capable of leading the party to victory.

"I do not find any shortcomings in the administration of chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda. Why should I recommend change in leadership as the chief minister is my close friend and classmate? However, it is up to the party high command to decide whether change of leadership is necessary or not," he said.

Dhananjay who has been politically active since the seventies said internal squabbles were not entirely a new phenomenon. Earlier, party leaders resolved issues without going to the media unlike today, he said.

Air India Express brings back Mangaluru–Muscat direct flights from March 2026

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
