Ullal, August 14: An incident of a labourer falling into the underground tank at a fish meal plant in Ullal has been reported.
The incident took place at about 9 pm last night at Span Aquatic Marine Products plant at Kotepura in Ullal.
Manjunath Shetty, Ullal Inspector, told Coastaldigest.com that the labourer had got down to clean the underground tank at the Plant but owing to the foul smell generated by the affluents and lack of oxygen, he fell into the tank. In order to rescue him, four more persons got down into the tank but all of them had to be hospitalized later, he said.
The labourers are Basavaraj and Chandra of Gadag, Sajith of Orissa, and two locals, police said. Two of these labourers have recovered and are slated for discharge while the other three are still recovering at Unity Hospital, Mr. Shetty said.
