Mangalore, September 1: Excise Minister M P Renukacharya on Saturday promised to completely eliminate illicit liquor centres from Karnataka within two months.
Addressing media persons after holding a meeting with divisional level excise officers in the city, he said that the number of illicit liquor centres have been reduced from 2000 to 93 during his tenure.
BSY inevitable to BJP
Demanding State BJP chief post for former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, Renukacharya reiterated that former is inevitable to the party and not vice versa.
The staunch loyalist of Lingayat leader said that it would be difficult even to imagine strengthening the party without Yeddyurappa. “He is a mass leader because of whom the BJP came to power in the State,” he claimed.
He said that a team of loyalists of Yeddyurappa would soon meet central leaders of BJP and convince them to take immediate steps to elevate their beloved leader to the post of Karnataka BJP president.
He also came down heavily on opposition leader Siddiramaiah for his remarks against Yeddyurappa.
“Being the opposition leader of the state he should undertake tour of draught-hit areas at this critical juncture instead of criticising a mass leader and former CM”, he said.
