Mangalore, September 9: No cases of forcible conversions, 'love jihad', drug distribution, and cheating of Hindu girls by boys of other religious communities have been registered in police stations coming under the jurisdiction of DK Police or Mangalore Police Commissionerate between January 2009 to July 2012, M G Hegde, Senior JDS leader said.
Addressing mediapersons at a press meet in Mangalore on Saturday, Mr. Hegde said that he had obtained these details via queries asked through Right to Information (RTI).
Mr. Hegde said that Hindutva organisations such as Bajarang Dal, RSS, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Hindu Mahila Jagrata Vedike, BJP and leaders such as Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Jagadish Karanth, Prasanna Ravi, or Satyajit Surathkal, who generally allege that such crimes are taking place in the district, have not registered any cases over the above mentioned issues in this period themselves.
Organisations affiliated to both Hindu as well as Muslim communities are disrupting peace in the society. Such organisations must on a mandatory basis get themselves registered and put out the list of their office bearers every year, Mr. Hegde said, besides demanding that bank account and audit details of such organisations be also made public.
Once the elections are declared, mass conventions of Hindu, Muslim and Christian organisations must be banned. People must register complaints with the police if any act of inciting hatred against other communities is found.
A PIL seeking ban on banners in public places, registration of organisations and revelation of their lists of office bearers, and regarding the homestay attack, would be submitted to the High Court of Karnataka, Mr. Hegde said.
