Emirate Khader Bhai: Loved by everyone; hated by none

When full of emotions, words get frozen... That’s what I personally felt when I heard the shocking news of death of my very good friend Emirate Khader. I felt once as if I was seeing a bad dream! Initial confusion about the uncertainty of his death gave again some hope; but that too was temporary as fact is always fact.

He is no more among us now. I personally feel that whatever I write about his personality is insufficient. I had good times with him when we were together at a room in Dammam for about one and half years in 2005-2006. I saw a rarest of rare personalities like him in my social, political and professional life with always smiling face and laughs even in his toughest times, with good passion and humanitarian gesture and easily available for any issue.

Allah gifted him with such a personality that stamped hundreds of thousands of hearts with non-erasable marks; remembering him forever.

He was a Good Samaritan with great qualities and calibres. He was a man of friend-in- need readily available for any issues like labour and other matters. Having a good command over Arabic, he was and effective chap to approach any native Arabic speakers. He never said "No" to any matter and most of the times he was successful in any issue he took up.

Most of the new comers to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia used to come in contact with him for any job placements, iqama process matter etc.

At the time when none (or very few people) was available for any help, he played a significant role in social and humanitarian assistances. Not only Mangalureans, but also other Indian compatriots and other nationalities in the KSA used to approach him for help. That makes his personality tall.

He struggled a lot...That resulted in his two sons graduated in engineering and other faculty. His whole family stood by him during his most difficulty days. He was a great husband and great father.

Tears rolled down the cheeks while I was writing on him. Hearts and minds became heavy when I typed each and every word about him. A reel of flashbacks came in mind in abundance while picking each expression on him. He was hated by none and loved by everyone. He left behind a good legacy leaving many in sad and shocking mood.

I feel he is still among us and immediately felt sad he is permanently far away from us and returned to the irrevocable call of ALLAH.

His father-in-law, Basrikatte Bawaka, who also passed away with him, was also a noble personality. He was a fitting father-in-law to the best son-in-law. Destiny is that both breathed their last together.

May Allah grant them Maghfirah and Jannaathul Firdous. May Allah give their family a great volume of patience (Sabr) to bear the great losses. May Allah give a speedy recovery for his wife and children, who sustained injuries in the accident.

Bengaluru: All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba on Monday accused the BJP and JD(S) of being silent over the alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and said the horrifying case of violence against women has shocked the nation.

"More than 3000 videos with hundreds of women being sexually harassed, violated and even brutalised by MP Prajwal Revanna over the past few years have shaken the conscience of Kannadigas and Indians alike," she told at a press conference here.

Prajwal (33) is grandson of JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda. JD(S) joined the NDA in September last year. He was the NDA candidate in Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went for polls on April 26.

According to police sources, he left the country after voting was over.

The Congress government in Karnataka on Sunday constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the alleged sex scandal.

Some explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal had started making the rounds in Hassan in recent days.

Lamba said the horrifying case of sexual violence against hundreds of women has shocked the nation.

"These acts of sexual brutality against hapless women has revealed the depravity of MP Prajwal Revanna, but the silence and sheer apathy of the BJP and JDS in this horrendous case is absolutely shameful," she said.

She alleged that in these videos, some recorded against the consent of the victim, women are seen pleading to be spared but the MP continues to brutalise and sexually violate them. Party 'karyakartas', panchayat members, elderly women, women who came asking for help to him and even maids have not been spared.

"The horrible fact is, that the acts of this sexual predator MP Prajwal Revanna was endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he campaigned in Old Mysuru Region on April 14th, 2024," she alleged.

"....the BJP JDS are still silent which shows you their true Anti Woman DNA!! Will the BJP or JDS answer?".

Mangaluru: A teenage boy from a remote village in Dakshina Kannada district, who was undergoing treatment for stomach pain for past few days, breathed his last after hospitalization.

The deceased has been identified as Nithin Kumar, 19, who had completed PUC and was attending computer classes.

According to police, on May 4, when he informed his family that he had been suffering from a stomach-ache for the past 4-5 days, his family members took him to a clinic in Kaniyoor.

The doctors who examined him advised him to undergo scanning. He was informed about a kidney stone and later, they returned home. That same night, he suffered from stomach-ache again and was rushed to a private hospital in Puttur.

On May 7, as per doctors’ advice, he was discharged around 12:45pm. However, when he came home around 2:30pm, he again suffered from stomach-ache and was taken to another private hospital in Puttur, where doctors conducted a surgery.

On Wednesday, as per doctors’ advice, he was asked to be shifted to Mangaluru for better treatment.

He visited a private hospital in Derakatte, where doctors suggested that he be shifted to government Wenlock Hospital.

The doctors who examined him at the Wenlock Hospital declared him dead. A case has been registered at the Bellare police station, and an investigation is on.

Mangaluru: Former MLC Ivan D’Souza on Monday led a delegation to the Passport Seva Kendra in Mangaluru, urging the authorities to provide basic facilities for applicants. D’Souza addressed the media, highlighting the lack of essential amenities at the Mangaluru PSK. “I have requested the authorities to provide basic facilities for people visiting the PSK.

There are no chairs for the convenience of people who arrive at the PSK. They are forced to sit or stand by the side of the road or on footpaths. Additionally, there is no parking facility, no washrooms, and water has not been provided for the public,” the Congress leader stated.

An average of 500 to 600 people from various parts of the state visit the PSK. They have to wait in the scorching heat of the sun, D’Souza mentioned, urging the govt to address these issues promptly. “Officials have agreed to find solutions to the problems faced by the people. Meanwhile, we have also demanded that the PSK be relocated to a more convenient space. We have suggested that the PSK could be moved to the old DC’s office, where there is sufficient space. If our demands are not met, we will hold a protest,” D’Souza explained.

Ashraf Kinara, vice-president of the Dakshina Kannada Waqf Advisory Committee, echoed the sentiment, stating that the authorities should either provide all basic facilities for passport applicants at the PSK or relocate the centre to a better location.
